We headed up to the third floor to see the Yves Klein lecture by Anne Walsh and Chris Kubick of Oakland California. I'll come out by saying that I don't like "performed" or even "performative" lectures even though this was not billed as either of those. I thought power point had brought about the death of the lecture in a performance context but obviously I was wrong. Walsh and Kubick have some great ideas. They hire professional psychic mediums to take readings from the works of dead artists. Today's dead artist was Yves Klein. We see slides of the work that the mediums read. We see slides of the mediums and hear sounds bytes of the women channeling Yves Klein although they are hard to hear because of the party atmosphere bleeding through into the room. It's a shame this event wasn't presented in the context of its own evening. I would have enjoyed it even with the burden of my prejudice. More LIVE5: Next we went to the Hedda Cabbage show by Randy Lee Cutler which due to bad planning was programmed at the same time as the Yves Klein lecture. We didn't have tickets but I snarled "press" and the man let my friend and I sit down with the dozen or so people at the table. The rest of the audience had to stand. Being divided into the haves and have-nots was a strong part of this piece although not really addressed in the text. Cutler/Hedda/Cutler performed a cooking show/didactic speech on a Mulligan stew of topics. Two trays of hors d'oeuvres came around--blintzes with smoked salmon and cream cheese and parmesan tuilles with dollops of creme fraîche truffle oil and sautéed mushroom bits made by Lazy Susan catering company (I assume from the napkins). The most interesting part of Cabbage's talk was the riff on mushrooms connected by mycelium like an organic Internet enveloping the earth. The mushroom's ability to absorb and remediate radiation gives us hope of some day cleaning up the mess we've made of the planet. More LIVE5: Meanwhile back at "In Pursuit of Happiness" things had taken a darker turn. Mars and Firth-Eagland lay head to head on the floor with their feet in opposite directions. They had wrapped the outside of he entire table with plastic probably to keep the audience from eating the cakes within. Mars was lifting a piece of cake to her lips hesitantly. She looked as though the sight of it was making her sick but there was still some compulsion to eat it. A large layer cake was perched on a plate on her stomach. She watched it moved up and down with her breathing. Firth-Eagland looked like she was in a drugged-out haze. Suddenly the table of fine gateaux didn't look so appetizing any more. In Pursuit of Happiness was beautiful in it complexity. It was as if Alice had gone through the looking glass as a mature woman and found herself at yet another bizarre tea party. A decade's worth of celebratory cakes read like a compressed history of special occasions in these women's lives. Why do we mark special occasions with a sugar high a celebration of sweetness and excess? Because we can. I guess. The tension between inviting the audience in and keeping them out was palpable. This is the tension I've been feeling tug through out the LIVE festival. If we make it exclusive will they come? If we make in inclusive will they stay at home? I recently took the car out with the vag-com attached and got some very interesting data approve in a spreadsheet. I'll be happy to transfer it if anyone cares enough to look at it. I'm just wondering if it is reliable and accurate? If the boost aspect of it is alter then I boost peaked at 27psi on one of my runs!!! Measured 1910mbar ot be exact. Sounds crazy I experience. I've just bought a 01' Bora pd115 feature for my daily change and would desire to dress a few things brakes springs lay cooler to name a few. Now from what I've seen so far a lot of VAG move aren't model specific but can be used on a whole be of different models. But I'd desire to do something about the awful brakes not sure if all Bora's are the same but the deal conclude is about the worst I've come across very wooden and not very Linear maybe a pad change and some fresh fluid would help ? But I read a little about a TT brake swap but I'm not at all sure what parts are needed for the swap onto my AJM Sport ? I already undergo a set of S3 wheels so no air with clearance. The other mod I would like to do is swap the SMIC for a PD150 FMIC but again I'd like to experience if it's possible and what parts are needed for the change. to do the brakes you would be to dress your hubs as the standard hubs undergo built in carriers for 280mm discs. the PD150 intercooler is not a enjoin swap the turbo hoses wouldn't fit and it's built into the radiator or sommet so not possible. why do you be the 150 intercooler? planning anything like bigger turbo exhaust and remap cos thats the only reason you would be to upgrade it. So first I need to change the lie hubs to ones from a Golf anni. VR6 or Audi TT then get some 312mm disc's and carriers which I can bolt the std callipers to ? But surely the std callipers don't cover all of the larger disc and there is a bit on the inner part of the disc that the pad doesn't comprehend? Not that interested in a turbo dress yet but I'm definitely going to change the D/P and the be of the exhaust then a remap. I'd desire to see what the std turbo is capable of if the supporting mods are optimized and if the FMIC is not a big job it's going to provide far cooler charged air than the align attach. At some point in the future a hybrid turbo could be on the cards. For the brakes your hubs have integrated carriers which is why you need the hubs from a 1.8t/PD130/150 or V5. These go with 288mm brakes as standard which the TT/anni/4 mo carriers will move straight up to. Then its up to you whether you use the 1.8t/PD130/150 or V5 calipers or the TT/4 mo ones as they are the same. I'm new to this Diesel tuning lark (you can probably tell) On one of my F/I cars I managed to get very good gains concentrating only on air induction and alter management. I like to optimize the std part by changing as few parts as possible modding on the cheap I suppose. So if diesels aren't to fussy about intake temp I anticipate they respond well to induction kit ? The only reason I was look at hard pipe kit was to reduce as many restrictions as possible from what I've seen the std setup looks fairly restrictive. It would be nice to keep the SMIC and dress a few fairly cheap ducts and see what gains it gives. The thing populate find with these TDI lumps is that even a larger cut downpipe and induction kit gives less than a 1hp obtain. Some can allow the turbo to spool up faster so less lag but its not really an air with the VNT turbos and not worth the £1000 outlay for sports fag downpipe and induction kit. The way to more power is a remap which will give by far the best bang per endeavor yours would map up to around 145bhp for £250. Much of the alter energy in the compressed intake air comes from the fact its been compressed not only due to it passing in close proximity to the hot fag copy and turbine go around. Therefore high EGTs are not the only thing that alter the intake air. Your right diesels are less affected then petrols as the air/furnish ratio is not a constant but heat soak and subsequent loss of intake denisty does make very noticeable cater loss on warmer days in TDI engines with standard SMICs especially when coming to standstill and then moving away or when pushing the engine hard. An uprated SMIC would more be effective and less laggy then a large FMIC. It would make a difference even with a standard turbo as the small SMIC does allow alot of heat immerse. This and a custom remap would be an effective mod. Roru - The best intake system for a TDI is the have separate and airbox. Shera - I didn't really have in mind much about the EGTs being affected because he said he was getting a larger DP which has proven to displace EGTs and back up to act alter away from the intake to a certain extent. I evaluate talking about heatsoak with a standard turbo in this country is a bit of a call conceive of to be honest. In central europe and america it is an air they have to deal with but over here the only people who assay with temp issues are the hybrid and larger turbo guys. I don't think anyone can contradict that. On saying that - the pd115 turbo remapped would benefit slightly from having an upgrade SMIC but more because it will be beneficial to future engine mods.
