Ill. said she was expecting to undergo a good time at the play and attended the production because it is for women and their empowerment. "I heard some parts are funny and some are dramatic," Shaw said. Shaw said she hoped the "Monologues" made people more aware of women's issues. Men also attended the production. Nearly an even be of men and women attended the "Monologues." Patrick Keeling junior from Bardstown said he attended the performance because he had heard a lot about it. "I go to plays in Louisville a lot and it was performed there last year," Keeling said. "I read about it there." He said the subject matter of the play which covers several "uncomfortable" subjects was a reason for going."Women's sexuality is a lot more hidden than men's," Keeling said. "It's not that hard for a guy to be sexual in the world because it's expected. The compete showed how difficult it is for women."Keeling said the play helped show what is like to be a sexual woman and what women undergo to go through because being sexual is not expected of them. "They're not supposed to be sexual," he said of what society expects of women. "It's not womanly." Keeling said watching "The Vagina Monologues" made him view women in a different way. "It was a good show," he said. "I would definitely go back and see it again."The stage on which the women performed was simply decorated with a white accent with a large color "V" in lie of it. At the front of the re-create were three microphones and music stands and a number of chairs on either side of the re-create. The 20 actresses in the play who were lined up on either side of the re-create lit candles "for women who were forgotten shamed and silenced."Katie Buffalo junior from Paris. Tenn. said the show was definitely a success because of the large crowd and if the show is performed at Murray State in 2006 a bigger venue will be needed. Although cow said she ordain not be allowed to be the director of the show again she will definitely act in any capacity needed if the play is produced again on campus.
